An amount should be shared fairly between two.
Both get the same amount, nobody is left short.
Draw a line in the middle of the stars. Are there the same number of stars to the left and right of the line? If so, the number can be shared fairly.

Example
For parents
What does this exercise practice?
Sharing fairly prepares for halving and later for dividing and makes the half easy to picture.
Common pitfalls
With odd amounts the fair share does not come out evenly. Here only even amounts are chosen.
How to practice at home
Share eight cookies fairly onto two plates and check whether both plates are equally full.
