The step is in the middle of the wheel, for example "+ 5".
The inner ring holds the numbers you calculate with.
Calculate from the inside outward and write the result in the field behind it.
Example: the middle shows "+ 5" and the inner ring shows a 3.
You calculate 3 + 5 = 8 and write the 8 on the outside.
The middle can also show "− 2". Then you calculate 5 − 2 = 3: first the ring number, then the middle.
Every sector is its own task, the middle stays the same.
Example
For parents
What does this exercise practice?
Apply the same calculation step confidently to many numbers.
Common pitfalls
Some children combine the numbers of the inner ring. Only the number and the middle count.
How to practice at home
Draw a wheel and take turns writing a new middle, for example "+ 2".
