In a calendar the days and weeks are laid out neatly side by side.
With plus and minus you find out which date is meant.
Example: today is March 4. In 10 days it is Tim's birthday.
Work out 4 + 10 = 14. So Tim's birthday is on March 14.
Tip: one week has 7 days. So 2 weeks become 14 days.
The numbers filled in show the solution.
Example
Today is March 4th. In 10 days it is Tim's birthday. What date is that? 14
Today is May 9th. In 2 weeks there is a sports day. What date is that? 23
For parents
What does this exercise practice?
Add up days and weeks in a calendar with plus and minus.
Common pitfalls
Weeks often have to be turned into days (1 week is 7 days). Say it out loud: 2 weeks are 14 days, and only then add.
How to practice at home
Look at the real wall calendar together. Count how many days are left until the next family celebration.
