On the left there are a few subtractions, on the right a grid full of numbers. Work out each exercise and write the result into the gray box next to it.
Then look for your results in the grid and color in every square that holds one of them. A result often appears more than once - color in every one of those squares.
In the end a picture appears. That is your check - you do not need a solution page.
If a colored square does not fit the picture, you got exactly that exercise wrong. Work it out again.

What does this exercise practice?
Color by result practices subtraction across the tens in the hundreds range - but with a goal that is not "calculated correctly" but "picture finished". Because a wrong result colors a square in the wrong place, the exercise checks itself, and the child finds the mistake without a grown-up.
Common pitfalls
The empty squares are no accident - they carry exactly the numbers that come out of the typical mistakes. Whoever forgets to borrow and works out 41 − 17 digit by digit as 30 + 6 really will find the 36 in the grid. So: calculate first, then search. Whoever hunts in the grid for a number that “looks about right” is sure to color the wrong square.
How to practice at home
Take squared paper, count out a 5x5 field and color in a picture yourselves. Write one of six numbers into every colored square and different numbers into the rest. Then invent six subtractions to match and hand the puzzle to somebody else.
