When you compare you look at which number is bigger.
There are three signs for that: less than (<), greater than (>) and equal (=).
The open end of the sign always points to the bigger number.
Example: 37 < 73
37 is less than 73, so the point faces the 37.
Tip: with two-digit numbers compare the tens first.
If the tens are the same, the ones decide.
