Read the ruler

Every bar starts with its left end at the 0 of the ruler.
Read off at the tip how many centimeters it is long and write the number in its box.

Example: bar A reaches up to 14, bar B up to 9.
So you write 14 and 9 in the boxes.

Only then do you compare the numbers: 14 is more than 9.
The bar with the biggest number is the longest, the one with the smallest is the shortest.
The numbers filled in show the solution.

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

Read lengths off a ruler and compare them by size.

Common pitfalls

Children often compare the end points without paying attention to the same starting point. Always line the bars up at the zero of the ruler.

How to practice at home

Measure pens, spoons or books at home with a ruler, write down the centimeters and then ask: which is the longest?
