Read the ruler

Several bars lie along a ruler.
Read off how long each bar is.

This is how you do it:
1. Check whether the start of the bar is at 0.
2. Read off the number at the right end.
3. Write the length in cm in the box.

The number written in shows the answer.

Example

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

Reading lengths off a ruler, giving them in centimeters and comparing the bars that way.

Common pitfalls

Children sometimes look only at the right end without checking whether the bar starts at zero. Check the starting point first, then read off.

How to practice at home

Place three objects side by side and order them by size, then measure them with a ruler.
