For written subtraction you calculate column by column from right to left.
The ones go under the ones, the tens under the tens, the hundreds under the hundreds and so on up to the highest place.
This is how you do it:
1. First subtract the ones.
2. If the top digit is not big enough, you take 1 from the next place value (regrouping).
3. Then carry on place by place to the left until all places are subtracted.
Tip: when regrouping you take a ten, hundred or thousand and note that in the small boxes.
