Every number appears twice in the grid. Connect the matching numbers with a line, like a snake.
The snakes run only from cell to cell horizontally and vertically, never diagonally.
They must not cross each other and must not share a cell.
At the end every cell is covered by exactly one snake, none stays empty.

What does this exercise practice?
Number snakes train careful looking and planning ahead: one line blocks cells for the other snakes, so the child thinks in advance where the partners can still get through.
Common pitfalls
The most common trap is a snake that locks in a partner. It helps to draw the short and tight connections first and to leave the long snakes a free path.
How to practice at home
Lay out a few pairs of numbers on a sheet and connect them with coins or building blocks as a chain. That way a snake can be moved easily until every cell is really covered.
