Grade 1 · tips for parents

Hello parents! Here is what makes learning easier for your child: first the things that always apply, then 5 tips on individual exercises from the Math book for grade 1.

What always applies

At their own pace

Let your child work the way that suits them. Not every exercise has to be solved in one go.

Skipping is allowed

If your child dislikes one kind of exercise, leave it out for now. It often looks easier later on.

Praise progress

Every solved exercise counts. Praise what your child managed, not just the right answer.

Games in between

The divider pages between the chapters carry games. They keep math lively instead of dry.

Better often than long

A little math on a regular basis does more than one long session a week.

Book-specific tips

Most exercise explanations also carry tips on how to practice that exercise at home. They say what the exercise trains, and where children sometimes stumble over it.
