In a calendar riddle you calculate with days and weeks.
This is how you do it:
1. Read carefully which date the story starts from.
2. Remember: a week has 7 days.
3. Example: today is April 3, in 3 weeks it is 3 plus 21, so April 24.
In the examples below the number written in shows the answer.
Example
Today is April 3. The class trip is in 3 weeks. What date is that? 24. April
For parents
What does this exercise practice?
Calculate with days and weeks and confidently work out time periods on the calendar.
Common pitfalls
Children often count a week as 5 school days instead of 7 days. Clarify the length of a week out loud before calculating.
How to practice at home
Using the family calendar, work out together how many days are left until the next birthday or outing.
