Common pitfalls
Children often miss the step of the line. A line up to 1,000,000 usually counts in thousand, ten thousand or hundred thousand steps, not in ones. First compare two labeled marks, then fill in the gaps.
How to practice at home
Look at a map or an odometer: which numbers are on it, which are missing between the marks? That is a number line you can touch.
