Ordering numbers means laying them out by size.
Mostly you start with the smallest number.
Example: 623456, 891234, 734567
The smallest number is 623456, then comes 734567, then 891234.
Sorted from small to big: 623456, 734567, 891234.
Tip: look at the hundred thousands first. If they are the same, look at the ten thousands, then at the thousands.

Common pitfalls
Children often look only at single digits. 645123 is smaller than 645321, because at the hundreds place there is a 1 instead of a 3. Always compare starting from the highest place.
How to practice at home
Write three six-digit numbers on slips of paper (e.g. from the car odometer or a price list), shuffle them and sort them together from small to big.
