Place Value Chart

In the place value chart you show every digit of a number at its place value.

Example: 6873 has 6 thousands, 8 hundreds, 7 tens and 3 ones.
So in the chart T=6, H=8, T=7 and O=3.

You can also work the other way round and put the number together from the place values!
The numbers written in show the answer.

Example

THZE
6873
= 6873
THZE
3825
= 3825

For parents

What does this exercise practice?

Determining the place value of every digit in big numbers safely.

Common pitfalls

The order matters, the biggest place on the left, the ones on the right. A swap changes the number.

How to practice at home

Split big numbers like a house number or a postcode together into thousands, hundreds, tens and ones.
